Good 'un.
It's funny how opening scenes with traffic cops on sunny, dusty LA roads, turn suddenly into a dark-house mystery, complete with howling winds, power cuts and secret panels - and of course the obligatory Disputed Inheritance. There's also farce involved, and that calls for the obligatory bedrooms with communicating doors.
I liked this one because although some of the cast think they're still making silent movies, Paul Hurst and Vera Reynolds more than make up for that with their dynamic, brash acting. Paul Hurst plays a cop whose aggressive, bullying, intimidating manner would be really offensive except that he's always behind the plot, so comes over as a frustrated dummkopf. Vera Reynolds is a shameless gold-digger, whose wheedling, manipulative manner would be really offensive if she weren't so darn sassy and obvious. These two are well worth the time to watch. There are some pretty funny scenes, and some nice footage of a Ford Trimotor. The picture and sound quality are really good for such an old flick, with a few missing frames of no consequence.

Few things are as funny as a lie painfully exposed. Just ask Peter Foley.
A convoluted plot makes for a great play
Pete: “
What are you doing?”
Julia: “
I’m going to bed. Did you bring your pajamas?”
Pete: “
I’m going to get out of here.”
This type of suggestive dialogue would not pass muster once the
Hays Code began to be enforced 4 years later.
Favorite scene is where Aunt Mary walks in on Peter and Alice. Or is it when Bull walks in on Julia and Mr. Parker? Or was it when Julie crawls into the hallway?
I loved it.

Marriage for fun and profit
A screwball comedy of errors with an old dark house mystery tossed in to add to the nuttiness. Uneven cast, but this doesn't matter in the least. Adequate production values. A lot of fun. You get the feeling they had a ball making this one.
Good video and audio. Other than a few missing frame dropouts of no consequence, the print is complete.
